When I began my postgraduate diploma in Dental Implantology, it quickly became clear that if I wanted to develop the skills and confidence to place implants independently, I needed support beyond the academic structure of the course. That realisation led me to approach Julian for mentorship.

From the outset, Julian’s relaxed and approachable manner made a huge difference. His direct supervision during implant placements, combined with his willingness to review my own cases, offer treatment planning guidance, and provide steady encouragement, helped me progress far more quickly than I could have alone.

Julian also welcomed me to shadow his clinical sessions, which proved invaluable. Observing complex cases, complication management, and his systematic approach to planning gave me insight into the realities of implant dentistry that no course can fully capture. These experiences went a long way towards helping me consolidate and properly understand the theory I was learning.

I ultimately passed my postgraduate diploma with distinction, and I attribute a substantial part of that achievement to mentors like Julian. The learning curve in implant dentistry is undeniably steep, but working with someone of his calibre genuinely flattens that curve.

Although I no longer work locally, I know I can always contact Julian for advice. He is clearly extremely passionate about implant dentistry, but he is equally passionate about teaching and empowering clinicians to grow and place implants independently. I hope to work with Julian again in the future and look forward to further discussions with him about the ever expanding world of implant dentistry. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough.
